A glade where Maasai herdsmen once slept, a 1924 house that still stands, and one of the last fragments of Nairobi’s ancient forest.
Entim Sidai means “the beautiful forest” in Maasai. It is a simple name for a place that is best understood by walking in: birdsong in place of city noise, dappled light through old trees, and a quiet that is hard to find in Nairobi.
We sit on Rura Drive. Rura means “to sleep”, named for the Maasai herdsmen who once came here at night, resting in the glade that shielded them from the cold winds of the Nairobi plains.
The original 1924 house still stands and today holds our standard rooms. Its heritage spaces are lovingly maintained, complete with artefacts of that era, so a night here is a night inside the story.
Entim Sidai is one of the few remaining fragments of the original Ngong and Karura forests that once straddled Nairobi. Our gardens carry an eclectic mix of plants and flowers brought from the UK by European settlers in the last century, and new additions earn their place by their capacity to attract bees.
The campfire dinners, the forest sounds, the bees and butterflies, all of it carries forward what this place has meant for generations. From our hilltop, the Ngong Hills stretch out before you.
Entim Sidai is one of the few remaining fragments of the original Ngong and Karura forests that once straddled Nairobi. Over 400 plant species flourish here, attracting birds, bees, and butterflies, and even Maasai herbalists who still come to share the medicinal wisdom of these plants.
Our gardens carry an eclectic mix of plants and flowers brought from the UK by European settlers in the last century. New additions earn their place by their capacity to attract bees, a living tribute to the forest’s long story.
Entim Sidai is more than a sanctuary, it’s a conservancy. We protect one of the last remnants of the Ngong and Karura forests that once covered Nairobi, home to hundreds of plant species and vital pollinators.
Our gardens are planted with purpose: new flowers and plants earn their place by attracting bees. The forest shelters birds, butterflies, and the rich biodiversity that makes this place unique.
The simplest way to support the forest is to visit, walk its paths and learn what grows here.
Support the forest. Visit, learn, and help it thrive.
A rare remnant of the ancient Ngong forest. A glade where Maasai herdsmen once slept. A 1924 house that still stands. Welcome to Entim Sidai; experience tranquillity and calm.
